It’s a debate that has been raging on my blog for over a year now.  I suggest what I think are the best gas cards and then everyone else argues incessantly about it.  For example, back when gas was less than $3/gallon I suggested the Discover Open Road Card as the optimal gas card.  However, now that gas is at $4/gallon, it’s not as good as it once was – although I’ll admit that a 5% rebate looks awfully nice since that’s $.20/gallon that I’m saving.  These days I usually recommend the Chase Freedom card for people who drive a lot since it can also help with groceries too, which makes up for the fact that you only get a 3% rebate.
