Power generating means of cars are their engines. There are many types of engines. These engines are categorized due to various functions and assemblies. Mainly there are two types of engines which are known as reciprocating and non reciprocating engines. Reciprocating engines are those which transfer engine momentum with the help of pistons whereas in non reciprocating engines there are no pistons. Reciprocating engines are basically internal combustion engines. Internal combustion engines are further divided as per the type of fuel used in these engines. There are few internal combustion engines which can operate on different types of fuels and are known as multi fuel engines.
