When considering purchasing a home, most homes won’t need an asbestos test done. In fact, builders were banned from using products known to contain high levels of asbestos in U.S. homes built after the mid 1980s. One exception is the use of cement asbestos pipes, although using them in a construction is widely not considered to be good industry practice. Asbestos is known to cause a number of health issues so proper testing is essential if asbestos contamination is suspected. If a home is found to have asbestos, the owner should immediately hire a professional asbestos removal company, and not attempt to remove the asbestos themselves.
