Aspergers syndrome is actually known by a lot of names including AS, Asperger syndrome, Asperger’s syndrome, Asperger’s and Asperger’s disorder. The Aspergers syndrome is actually a kind of Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD wherein there is no obvious delay in the cognitive and language development of young children who are born with the said condition. In fact, children with AS often showcase superior mental capabilities during the first few years of their lives; albeit their motor skills may be somewhat lacking. There are people who mistake Aspergers syndrome with HFA or High-Functioning Autism. However, there are great differences between the two. For one thing: people with AS are very social, although their social skills are greatly lacking according to “normal” definition. They do tend to lack empathy with the people they are with, but they are not usually withdrawn or subject to moodiness.
