Some people make life more complicated than it needs to be. I own a two bedroom fixer-upper house, and I bought it about nine months ago with the intent of remodeling the kitchen, among other things. Well, I’m ready to start on the kitchen, and my girlfriend is telling me I can’t do it myself, because I don’t know how to design a kitchen. Man, I’m not moving anything. I’m just ripping everything out and replacing it with new stuff. Who needs a designer? I’ve completely remodeled two condos, so it’s not like I’ve never done any of this stuff before.
The cabinets I’m planning to install will have a lot of new little storage enhancements, but they’ll fit in the same spots as the old ones. But my girl, like so many people these days, seem to think that if a person didn’t get a degree or hasn’t been doing something for twenty years, they’re incapable of handling it.
Hey, I’m not saying I can install a kitchen as fast as a pro. I’m just saying I can get it done at least adequately, and kitchen designers are only needed if you’re going to be rearranging the layout of the room. What’s the problem?
