At the end of my daughters kindergarten year she was still having trouble with her reading. Her teacher didn’t feel comfortable moving her on to first grade. I knew she was having a struggle with reading, but didn’t want her to get held back. The thought of it broke my heart. I told her teacher I promised to continue working with her over the summer and for us to see how she improves before the start of the new school year. I bought a learn to read program and she and I worked on it every day. Her progress was amazing and by August she was more than ready for first grade.
